Interest areas
- Vieux Port
Located at the end of the Canebière, it has been the natural harbor of Marseille since antiquity.
Highlights: the Abbey of St Victor, the Phare de Sainte Marie (lighthouse), the Canebière, Hôtel de Ville (town hall), the historic ferry, the Roman Dock Museum.
- La Corniche
It is a picturesque waterfront road between the Old Port and the Bay of Marseille.
Highlights: Besides the lovely views of the sea, it also provides the Chateau d’If to the south and les Calanques to the east.
- Longchamp
Highlights: Palais Longchamp with its Natural History Museum and Musée des Beaux-Arts; Grobet-Labadié museum.
- Le Panier
This is the oldest area of the town.
Highlights: The Vieille Charité, a wonderful old monument, now hosting museums and exhibitions.
Administrative areas
The 16 municipal arrondissements are divided into quartiers (111 in total). The arrondissements are regrouped, in pairs, into 8 sectors, each sector having its own council and town hall.

- 3rd sector: 4th and 5th districts
- 4th sector: 6th and 8th districts
- 5th sector: 9th and 10th districts
